Instant Chat

The chat feature on the Taboo app allows users to instantly communicate with friends and or professionals using the modern text like approach.

Main Feature

Why?

We noticed that there was a severe gap in the market for an instant chat style app focused on mental health. That's where Taboo comes in, by combining tried and tested features such as mood tracking and trigger warnings this helps users to get build their mental health picture and ensure they get the right support instantly in a way that resonates with the social media age.

More Features

Mood Tracking

Daily, Monthly, All Time

The mood tracking feature allows you to recognise patterns and start to build your mental health picture. This methos is proven to help people in moving forward and getting the right kind of support.

Notifications

Chat Notifications Outside of App

By activating notifications it ensures that you are aware as soon as one of your friends messages you or responds. This not only provides real time  communication to help others but also when people reply with support for you.

Trigger Warnings

Build your Trigger Profile

Trigger warnings are a modern approach used to prevent exposing someone with past trauma to something that might insight a physical and or mental reaction. They are shown on each users profile to make others aware of sensative subjects.

Action

Taboo's main purpose is to provide a mental health social media platform that aids the MH market in that it's main feature is an instant chat function, unlike other mental health apps, where you can recieve support from professionals and friends alike.

We believe that social media can be used in a positive way and help to break the stigma surrounding mental health in young adults. By sharing your progress, streaks and bad days via 'announcements', this gets people talking and breaks the Taboo.

The Perfect App Experience

The app interface (UI) and usability (UX) has been designed with mental health at the core. We have undertaken a vast amount of research with subjects from all backgrounds to establish not only the best design but the best usability. This ensures that the app not only looks great, has new features and concepts but it combines them both in a seamless and easy way.

We have built an app that is easy to use and feels like a safe space.

As someone who had previously not struggled with any mental health issues, the first lockdown was a weird experience. I knew something wasn't right but I couldn't put my finger on it. I saw one of my friends had been using Taboo so thought i'd try it for myself and was amazed that within a few weeks my lockdown experience and whole mindset had improved drastically. I've been using Taboo for over a year now and I don't think i'll ever stop using it. It helps me maintain this mental health, tracking my moods and noticing when I need to talk to someone. I'd recommend everyone to get it, even if you don't think you need it - you may be able to offer support via the chat function to someone who really needs it.
